Dr. Katina Simmons O.D.

Optometrist/Owner

Dr. Katina Simmons, the Owner and Optometrist at Griswold Eye Care, has deep roots in the local community. She grew up in Griswold, where she was a patient of Dr. Zuckerbraun, the very same eye doctor whose practice she would later acquire and transform into her own. Dr. Simmons pursued her undergraduate studies at Western New England University in Springfield, MA, before attending the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston. After completing her education, she and her husband, Mark, chose to settle in nearby Voluntown, allowing her to stay close to family while fulfilling her dream of running her own practice.

Dr. Simmons knew early on that optometry was her calling, a realization she had during her junior year of high school. Since then, she has never looked back, confident that she found the perfect profession. Her passion for eye care and her dedication to her patients are evident in her work every day.

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Simmons enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. Alongside her husband Mark, their daughter Emersyn, and their dog Lexi, she loves hiking, camping, and exploring nature.

Chelsea

Optical Manager

Chelsea has been in the optical field since 2011 traveling from the greater Hartford area to the shoreline. From working behind the scenes in multiple labs making glasses, assisting doctors as an Optometric Tech and helping patients on the floor selling glasses she has really done it all. She loves uncovering patients needs and helping them find the perfect pair of glasses that fits their personality! She currently resides in Niantic with her husband, daughter Ava and two dogs Mookie and Bentley.

Vanessa

Office Manager

Vanessa is an experienced professional who brings more than 15 years of medical administrative experience to her role as office manager. She wishes to inspire others with their infectious enthusiasm, passion, and zeal to make things work and succeed. She resides in Bozrah with her husband, son, and daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys her flower gardens and frequent trips to the beach with her family.

Heaven

Receptionist

Heaven has five years of experience in the eye care field, having worked as a technician, optical assistant, and receptionist. She loves being part of this dynamic industry and is continually fascinated by the unique eye conditions she encounters—there’s never a dull moment. Heaven currently lives in Lisbon, CT with her husband and their three fur babies: Dixie, Georgia, and Ruger. When she’s not at work, she enjoys being an auntie to her nieces and nephews, going on vacations, and attending country concerts with family and friends.
