Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
We require appointments for eye exams and contact lens exams however if you need an eyeglass adjustment or repair, feel free to walk in at Griswold Eye Care!
Do you see children?
Yes, we do pediatric exams. Dr. Simmons of Griswold Eye Care performs exams on children 5 & up
What types of frames & lenses do you offer?
We have a broad selection of frames for men, women & kids as well as sunglasses at Griswold Eye Care. All brands can be found on our Optical page.
The lenses we offer are from the brand Hoya. Hoya is a locally based lab that sells products only to independent optical companies.
Will you accept my insurance?
We accept many types of medical insurance at Griswold Eye Care. The insurance we take can be found on our Insurance page. We also take 2 types of vision insurance, VSP & EyeMed.
How long does it take to get my glasses or contacts after I get my exam?
Glasses can take up to 16 business days to arrive and contact lenses depending on the type can arrive within a week!
I am interested in contacts, how do I go about that?
Contact lens exams are a separate portion of your eye exam. The contact lens exam is subjected to a seperate fee that is typically not covered by insurance. If you have never worn contact lenses before, an appointment called an I&R which stands for “Insertion and Removal” can be scheduled after your routine eye exam if Dr. Simmons deems you a candidate for contact lenses.
How is my vision insurance different from my medical insurance?
Your medical insurance is for medical visits done in the office or any medical testing. Occasionally your medical insurance may cover up to 1 routine eye examination a year of which you can call them to verify. Your vision insurance is for your routine eye exams and materials such as glasses or contact lenses. If you have further questions regarding your coverage, please call your insurance provider.
How long does a typical eye exam take?
A comprehensive eye exam at Griswold Eye Care usually takes 45 to 60 minutes. We perform several tests to evaluate your vision and check your overall eye health. This thorough approach ensures we don’t miss any potential concerns.
Do you help patients learn how to insert contact lenses?
Yes, we provide detailed instructions and hands-on training for all new contact lens wearers. Our optical team will work with you until you feel completely comfortable inserting and removing your lenses. We also give you written care instructions and schedule a follow-up to check your progress.
